A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness." ~ D.H. Lawrence "Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?" "Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost." ~ Seneca "People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect." ~ Daydream Nation "All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death." ~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes "The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road." ~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita "It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend." ~ William Blake Think about it Musicalities! Kill that boredom!

I think I associate the ocean with depression for some reason. The idea was to write a piece with the theme "Wonders of the Invisible World"-- we decided to write based on one of the titles of the book recommendations in the back of a book a group member brought. I threw around a lot of ideas before I managed to get this out. I am not sure if it is entirely clear or not. You can read it if you want. It is not that great. This Is Not Reality Also I keep thinking about THIS COMIC... Because of reasons. I've been thinking about that and about Sweeney Todd saying "I have no time" in the Broadway musical version and Judas singing "damned for all time" in Jesus Christ Super Star. None of these things are particularly important. In some ways I feel like I am using all my energy just to sustain an image of solidness and stability. Things are not that good right now. 7 Comments. I associate ocean with committing suicide. But thinking being food for sharks is painful since i dont want to die bitten by them. » ayl4life on 2012-06-01 09:15:30 i associate the ocean with infinity. also, that comic made me spit out an imaginary drink. » thaitanic on 2012-06-01 05:59:55 I liked the piece you wrote. It reminded me of this faint memory of some program or something that described a black sludge monster that you couldn't wipe off, once it touched you. It just kept spreading. Odd feeling. Also that comic was amazing. re: It would appear that people who buy things to impress others are more consistently without money. It makes sense. » Unicornasaurus on 2012-06-02 12:32:29 Dear RJ, I did so very much like your ocean of oil. My favorite part was the dying clouds. I liked thinking about how tired and trapped the clouds were, when by right clouds should be free! And then the sluggishness is spread to the whole landscape, including the ocean, which has to drag its own ripples and the raft which is towing an anchor. I also like it that you say that clouds should never be "this tired", not that they should never be tired, like it is somewhat natural that clouds should get tired sometimes, but this is a bit over the line. I think it also makes it interesting that the theme was "Wonders of the Invisible World". I would immediately think of dark matter or microbes or maybe even metaphysics but so much more immediate are the invisible worlds created by the differences in perception inside each of our minds. I bet it would make an amazing poem, as well, a la TS Eliot: The eyes are not here There are no eyes here In this valley of dying stars In this hollow valley This broken jaw of our lost kingdoms Have you ever seen the movie Melancholia? It was kind of painful to watch, because it was incredibly slooooooooow and almost nothing happens, but the first half is about a girl who suffers from intense depression getting married. She loves her husband-to-be, and she wants to marry him, but unluckily the wedding falls during a time when she is being crushed by this depression. I thought it was an amazing portrayal of depression-- everyone around her is so frustrated because she has every reason to be happy, but she isn't, and she can't be. There is point where they show someone walking across the green of a golf course and with every step her feet sink in to the calf. Anyway, you might find it interesting. » Zanzibar on 2012-06-03 08:19:39 haha yeah well.. I'm still sad and depressed and still want my ex back but I need to stop... it's not going to happen and we weren't meant for each other I guess. so I'm doing productive things and moving on as best as I can. » dont-see on 2012-06-04 08:25:23 Yeaah, thanks :) I think of the ocean as depressing as well... probably all the lost seamen and lonesomeness of it all. I love Jesus Christ Superstar... so hilarious. » dont-see on 2012-06-05 02:01:00 re: Logical deduction based on past occurrences and their most frequent similarities. It helps to have a very distinctive tendency, an affinity towards certain qualities, and a relatively short history through which to sort. :] Also, your sociology analogy was very appropriate--I've heard of it, before, and it makes sense. » Unicornasaurus on 2012-06-07 02:43:14
